We are looking for a person or group, a teacher, tutor, teaching assistant, person from the administration, anyone. Their title does not matter, but their deed does. We want to identify and give recognition to good deeds and reward the doers.

Nominate this person or group by 15.6.2018

Any member of staff or student from the ELEC community can make the nomination. You can have several people behind the nomination, whose names must be included in the nomination. ELEC’s Quality of Education Committee QEC) will not disclose the authors of the nomination.

The QEC will process the nominations, evaluate in particular the justifications, and select the recipient(s) of the award.

The award will be given at the Dean’s Coffee in autumn 2018.

Kuka inspiroi ja tukee oppimista? Ehdota laadukkaan opetuksen palkinnon saajaa!

Haluamme tunnistaa ja tunnustaa hyviä tekoja ja palkita tekijöitä.

Sähkötekniikan korkeakoulun tavoitteena on tukea opiskelijoiden oppimista mahdollisimman hyvin.

Students learning field-specific terminology through glossary tasks

I interviewed two Aalto University instructors who have used glossaries created by students as coursework in a subject course and a field-specific language course. The assignments are based on active learning methods: the glossaries are not created by the instructor, but by the learners themselves. The interview focused, among other things, on the teaching philosophy behind developing the glossary tasks, how the learning of field-specific vocabulary can be linked to the overall learning objectives of the course, and what technical solutions enable students’ active learning in glossary assignments.
