Research Assistants in Intelligent Robotics - Summer jobs 2026

Are you interested in making robots more intelligent? For example, have you ever wondered:

  • How are autonomous vehicles simulated and controlled?

  • How are robots able to manipulate complex objects?

  • How can robots use AI and machine learning to act in the physical world?

We are looking for candidates for 3-month summer jobs as research assistant in the Intelligent Robotics group at Aalto University (up to 4 positions).

The Intelligent Robotics group is a renowned team conducting world-class research across areas ranging from autonomous driving to robot learning, perception, and control. As a research assistant, you will join one of our ongoing research projects and contribute to cutting-edge research, working closely with our researchers on core tasks such as developing models and methods and running and analyzing experiments.

What do you need?

  • Successful university studies in robotics, computer science, control engineering, applied mathematics, or another related field.

  • Desire to participate in scientific research

  • Motivation to learn

  • Permission to work in Finland e.g., EU citizenship or a residence permit that allows working in Finland when the work starts. Please note that it is not possible to delay the start.

Topics

This year, we are particularly interested in topics including autonomous driving, foundation models/LLMs, robotic manipulation, and simulation, among others.
