Learning outcomes

At course completion, you will be able:

- to communicate using familiar phrases in simple situations in and outside of work.

- to, e.g. introduce yourself and answer simple questions in French.

- to write short messages using familiar phraseology and grammatical constructions.

- to understand the gist of relatively easy texts with the help of language tools.

- to recognise and understand some of the cultural features and customs typical of the French-speaking world.

Content

Understanding the basic structures and vocabulary needed in everyday life and work and practising related simple communicative situations, and getting to know some customs of the French-speaking world. The course will primarily use English as a support language, Finnish is used in small amounts as a secondary supporting language.

Evaluation

Attending to lectures. Assignments assigned by the teacher, written exam(s), possibly an oral exam. More specific assement criteria will be announced at the beginning of the course.

This course is taught online. Attendance is mandatory, lectures are not recorded.

Exam

Course exam is arranged during the last lecture. Re-exam date is agreed with the teacher separately.
