'Young technology leaders for a sustainable future' 

is a network of excellent Institutes of Technology and multinational companies that offer an exclusive Leadership Development program for engineering and science Master's students. The one-year program, from August till August, consists of one semester for exchange studies, and another semester for Master's thesis + three one-week coaching modules. 

Applying to UNITECH

Application for the academic year 2026-27 is now open! DL for Aalto applicants is Mon 19 January, 2026. UNITECH Handbook for applicants as well as the link to the application is now available at the .

Students enrolled in a Master's programme (excl. international joint programmes) at Aalto Schools CHEM, ELEC, ENG or SCI may apply. First year studies in one's own Master's programme must be completed when starting in the UNITECH program.

Applying instructions for Aalto students

We expect that applicant has good study success, completes 60 ECTS during the first MSc study year, and makes one’s UNITECH studies (60 ECTS) to fit in the MSc(Tech) degree of 120 ECTS. It is important to fulfill the Aalto outgoing exchange requirements /en/other-studies/selection-criteria-and-terms-of-exchange

Read the instructions carefully! Take enough time for preparing your application!

• Choose 3 options for study exchange, in your prioritized order. Check their course offerings. Aalto student exchange eligibility requirements must be fulfilled! /en/other-studies/selection-criteria-and-terms-of-exchange
• Note! The Aalto requirement for outgoing exchange is min 24 ECTS, though UNITECH requirement is 20 ECTS (+possible language courses).
• Note! For the 3 UNITECH modules, Aalto will award you altogether 6 ECTS credits.
• Get Learning Agreements for your three exchange targets approved by your study program. Attach them to your application before submitting it!
• Get your individual study plan HOPS approved in Sisu by your study program, by the application DL. Take care that your study plan will not exceed 125 ECTS credits.

• The Aalto UNITECH student’s degree will consist of 60 ECTS of from one’s own study program + 24 ECTS from UNITECH exchange + 6 ECTS for the UNITECH modules from Aalto + 30 ECTS of Master’s Thesis at UNITECH partner company, which makes altogether 120 ECTS.
