How to reset Authenticator (MFA) when e.g. your phone has changed

I have a new phone and can't use the old one to verify my identity using the Microsoft authenticator app. How can I reset that?

  • Reset your MFA registration at the self-service portal:

-> suomi.fi authentication -> start a new request -> application access -> MFA registration reset -> add to cart -> submit

wait for 30 minutes, and then you can re-register to for the multifactor authentication service with these instructions: /en/services/aalto-multifactor-authentication-on-office-365-accounts

Note: For suomi.fi authentication you need Finnish online banking credentials. You can also visit IT Service Desk, where your identity is verified with an ID card with a photograph.

I deleted the Microsoft authenticator app from my phone. Now when I'm trying to re-download it, I'm not able to log into the authenticator app, nor am I able to log into any of my Microsoft software. How to proceed?
