The Aalto University Code of Conduct is one way of putting our values and way of working — the foundation of our community culture — into practice
Aalto University's facilities are primarily intended for the use of the university's teaching, research, and administration, as well as services that support teaching and research activities.
The university rents its premises for activities that align with its strategy and values. University spaces can be rented for short-term use by businesses and organisations with a business or community identification number, scientific communities, as well as public and non-profit organisations, associations and civil society organisations.
University premises used for commercial purposes, such as shopping centres and other venues and office spaces suitable for leasing, are rented out to external partners for business activities, to individuals, or for other commercial uses.
University premises will not be rented or reserved for purposes that contradict the university's values or good practices, nor for activities that compete with the university’s operations. Events hosted in university premises must not interfere with the university’s primary activities or endanger the health or safety of students and staff. Political or religious material may not be distributed in lobbies, corridors or other common or semi-public areas.
Short-term use of university premises for political activities is possible for events such as Aalto University’s student union (AYY) election events and panels, where representatives from various parties can be invited, as well as fostudent union activities, political student organisations or their sub-organisations, staff trade unions and events related to professional societal interaction.
Demonstrations must comply with the Assembly Act 22.4.1999/530. Demonstrations are to be held outdoors to ensure indoor spaces remain safe and undisturbed for everyone. If a demonstration is held or attempted to be held indoors, the university will assess the situation on a case-by-case basis to determine appropriate actions.
Political parties and religious organisations external ÄûÃʵ¼º½ University can rent premises for short-term use at Dipoli (Otakaari 24) for closed and clearly defined meetings (e.g., annual general meetings, party congresses). The organising party may distribute political or religious materials within the confines of the rented space for closed events, excluding lobbies and other public areas.
Private individuals can rent Dipoli's (Otakaari 24) spaces for short-term celebrations, such as weddings, birthday parties, memorial services, and academic events (e.g., doctoral conferment events).
The university requires all those that book, rent and use university spaces to commit to the university's Code of Conduct and principles of a safer space.
The foundation of Aalto University's operations is ethics and integrity. We adhere to applicable laws and regulations as well as Aalto University's Code of Conduct in all our activities. In their activities conducted on Aalto University's premises, entities renting our spaces must comply with applicable laws and these Aalto University ethical principles for renters or equivalent principles.
