Admission to the Bachelor's Programme in International Business, Bachelor and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration (3 yrs + 2 yrs)

The application period for the English-taught Bachelor’s Programme in International Business is from 7 to 22 January 2026. Studies start in August-September 2026.

Applicants are selected to complete the degrees Bachelor and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration. Admission is based on either SAT/ACT test results or grades obtained in Finnish Matriculation Examination, IB, EB or RP/DIA degree.

Who can apply?

All applicants must fulfill the general eligibility requirements for higher education and submit the required documents by the given deadlines (see the Required application documents section). 

You are eligible to apply if you have completed or will complete during spring 2026 one of the following qualifications:

  • Finnish matriculation examination
  • , completed in an accredited IB school
  • , completed in an accredited EB school
  • diploma (DIA) or Reifeprüfung diploma (RP), completed in Finland
  • Upper secondary education completed outside Finland, for example a high school diploma. The qualification must give eligibility to the corresponding level of higher education in the country in which it was awarded.
  • A Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification, further vocational qualification or specialist vocational qualification as set in the Vocational Education Act (531/2017)
  • Advanced International Certificate of Education diploma (AICE)

Additionally eligible to apply are

  • applicants who have been granted the right to study in a university in Finland;
  • applicants who have a higher education degree completed in Finland; or
  • applicants who have at minimum a bachelor level degree completed outside Finland.

Please note that any high school diploma awarded outside Finland does not qualify for an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and any European high school diploma does not qualify for a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma. Both the IB and EB are specific programmes, and only students who have studied at a properly accredited school participating in the IB or EB programme can be awarded an IB or EB Diploma. 

On what basis are the admission decisions made?

Admission to the Bachelor's Programme in Economics is based on either the SAT/ACT test results, or the grades obtained in the Finnish Matriculation Examination, the , the , the or Reifeprüfung (RP) diploma (DIA/RP diploma completed in Finland only). How to apply?

Admission to the Bachelor's Programme in International Business is organised through Aalto University's application to English-taught bachelor's programmes. 

The application period for studies starting in August-September 2026 is from 7 to 22 January 2026 (at 3pm/15.00 UTC+2). Submit the online application form in the system during the application period. You can submit only one application form. A link to the application form will be added here when the application period begins.

You can apply to a maximum of three study options with the one application form. You can find Aalto University's English-taught bachelor's programmes and study options on the Study Options page. You may only be admitted to one study option.

Read the application instructions and document requirements carefully. You can edit your application form within the application period. Upload all the required application documents to your application form by the given deadlines.

Please note that Aalto University's application to English-taught bachelor's programmes, the first joint application and the second joint application are separate admissions, and completely separate processes. If you wish to apply in several application rounds, you must submit an application form separately for each application period. You must also submit the required application documents  separately during each application round.

Order of preference of study options

Rank your study options in the order of preference on the application form. Place highest the study option you are most interested in. Keep in mind that if you are admitted to your first or second preference option, your lower preferences will be automatically cancelled. You can change the study options or their order of preference only during the application period, from 7 to 22 January 2026. 

Application fee

Applicants who are not citizens of the European Union (EU), or the European Economic Area (EEA) member states, or Switzerland must pay a €100 application fee to apply for higher education in Finland. 

Citizens of EU or EEA member states and Switzerland are exempt from the fee. In addition, certain types of Finnish residence permits provide an exemption from the fee. Detailed information on the application fee, exemptions and payment instructions are available on the Studyinfo webpage .

If you have a document that exempts you from the application fee, you must upload it to your application form.

The application fee is collected by the Finnish National Agency for Education in connection with filling out the application form in the Studyinfo.fi service. Payment must be made within seven days of submitting your application. The fee cannot be paid late. Unpaid applications will not be processed.

The application fee is statutory and non-negotiable; no waivers are available.

Admission process

Admission to the Bachelor's Programme in International Business is based on either the SAT or the ACT test results, or the grades obtained in the Finnish Matriculation Examination, the , the , the or Reifeprüfung (RP) diploma (DIA/RP diploma completed in Finland only). There are three admission groups.

  • In Admission Group I admission is based on the SAT or the ACT test results. Only applicants who fulfill the general eligiblity requirements for higher education, but have not completed or will not complete in spring 2026 the Finnish matriculation examination, IB, EB or DIA/RP diploma, can be selected in this admission group.
  • In Admission Group II admission is based on the SAT or the ACT test results. Only applicants who have completed or will complete in spring 2026 the Finnish matriculation examination, IB, EB or DIA/RP diploma can be selected in this admission group.
  • In Admission Group III admission is based on the grades obtained in the Finnish matriculation examination, IB, EB or DIA/RP diplomas. If you have completed any other qualification, you can only apply on the basis of the SAT or ACT test results.

If you meet the minimum requirements for both Admission Group II and Admission Group III, you can be considered in both admission groups. You cannot be considered in both Admission Group I and Admission Group II.

Required application documents

Attach to your Studyinfo application form the following documents:

  1. Academic documents proving eligibility for higher education (with translations, if required)
  2. If applying on the basis of the SAT or ACT test results: the SAT or ACT test result report. In addition, the official test results must arrive ÄûÃʵ¼º½ University directly from the test organiser.
  3. Passport or other ID (with translations, if required)
  4. Residence permit card (if applicable)

This section has instructions and deadlines for these documents. Read the instructions carefully and attach the documents to your Studyinfo application form by the given deadlines. Scan the original documents in colour and save them as PDF files. The copies do not have to be certified.

Your application will be rejected if you do not provide the required documents by the given deadlines. If we require further information about your application or documents provided, we will be in contact via email. Your application will be rejected if you do not respond to our email by the given due date.

After you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. After submitting your application, you can modify it and upload documents to it in the My Studyinfo service. If you cannot log in to the My Studyinfo service, you can make changes and upload attach documents to your application using the link included in the confirmation email. You can make changes to the application form only during the application period. Once the application period has ended, you can still upload and modify your application documents until the document-specific deadlines.

Please note that if you apply in several admissions, you must attach the required documents to each application form separately. Attachments submitted for one application are not considered in other applications.  

Language requirements

The language of instruction in the Bachelor's Programme in International Business is English, so all students are expected to have sufficient language skills to be able to study in English. You are not required to submit a language test result.

Tuition fees and scholarships

Tuition fees are collected from students who are not citizens of the member states of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland. Tuition fees apply to degree programmes taught in English.

The tuition fee for the Bachelor's Programme in International Business is 12 000€ per academic year. The normative duration of bachelor's degree studies is three academic years.

Admission results

The admission results for Admission Groups I and II (SAT and ACT-based selection) are published in the Studyinfo service by 26 March 2026.

The admission results for Admission Group III (certificate-based selection) are published in the Studyinfo service by 27 May 2026

You can check the results by logging in to the My Studyinfo service. The admission result is also sent by email. If you cannot log in to the My Studyinfo service, please wait for the arrival of the admission result email.

Accepting your study place offer

If you have been admitted to a study programme, you will receive an email notification. You can only be admitted to your highest study option preference for which your admission results are sufficient.  

If you are admitted based on your SAT/ACT test score in March, you can accept the study place only if you have been admitted to your first preference study option, before all admission results have been published in May.

When all the admission results have been published, you can be admitted off the waiting list. Please note that if all study places have been filled, no one will be admitted off the waiting list. Admission from the waiting list ends on 4 August 2026, or earlier if all study places are filled.

You must accept the offer of admission by the given deadline, otherwise the admission offer will be cancelled. The offer acceptance is binding. Once you have accepted the offer, the acceptance cannot be cancelled. When you bindingly accept the admission offer, your applications to other study options will be cancelled automatically.

You can only accept one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland for education that begins in the same academic term. applies to all higher education in universities and universities of applied sciences in Finland. 

If you applied to multiple study options or in different application rounds, it is likely that you will not receive the admission results for all of your study option preferences at the same time. Think carefully whether you wish to accept an offered study place or wait for the results of your other study options.
