Master’s studies at Aalto University cover three fields: arts & design, business & economics, technology & engineering. Aalto is the university with the most English-language programmes in Finland and has the widest range of education in the field of technology.

Our master's programmes are suitable for students who hold a bachelor’s degree. They are internationally acknowledged two-year programmes that provide foundations for working in the industry or continuing to doctoral studies.

Studying for a master’s degree at Aalto University

Even though it is an academic education, the studies are practical and have strong industry ties. Research-based teaching is combined with hands-on projects and real business cases, conducted in collaboration with companies. For example, in the field of technology at Aalto University, already approximately 70% of the master’s theses are commissioned by organisations, and this practice is becoming more common in other fields as well. In some programmes, especially in the fields of arts and technology, the studies include hands-on work in laboratories and workshops.

Some master’s programmes at Aalto are multidisciplinary by nature, including tracks across several fields. Some examples of our multidisciplinary programmes are Creative Sustainability, International Design Business Management, and Game Design. Additionally, it is possible to combine studies outside your own discipline with any master’s programme through minor and elective courses.

Scholarships and Tuition Fees

Bachelor's and Master's programmes have a tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens. Prospective students subject to tuition fees can apply for Aalto University Excellence Scholarship.
