Love letters to our clothes brings together the stories of garments and their wearers, exploring the complex and deeply personal ways we form attachments to our clothing.
Love Letters to Our Clothes is a collaborative exhibition organized by Aalto Repair and Rewear (funded by the Sustainability Action Booster) and . The exhibition explores the emotional connection between people and their garments, aiming to inspire more mindful clothing consumption and promote sustainability in fashion from a consumer perspective.
Through photographs, physical garments, and shared personal stories, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the value of clothes beyond trends or price tags. By strengthening the emotional bond between people and their clothes, the project seeks to challenge fast fashion culture and reduce overconsumption. Participatory elements such as a mending station, workshops, and the opportunity to write a 鈥渓ove letter鈥 to your garment provide hands-on ways to reconnect with what we wear.
Emotional durability 鈥 our attachment to the things we own 鈥 is a key yet often overlooked part of sustainability. By encouraging garment care and offering tools to extend the life of clothing, the exhibition opens a conversation on lasting relationships with the items we wear.
The exhibition will be arranged in Beta SPACE Gallery between 1st鈥18th of Sep 2025, and it will serve as both a reflection space and a call to action 鈥 open to all who wish to share, mend, and reimagine the role of clothing in our lives. More information on the event coming soon!
Message from the initiators:
"For the exhibition, we want to hear your voices and are therefore having an open call to share your story and become an exhibition piece yourself. From all applications, we will choose participants who will be interviewed and photographed by Aino Ahola, a really cool fashion photographer. (There is also the option to just share your story without being photographed if you prefer that.). The exhibition will be an homage to the emotional meaning."
