Professor Luana Dessbesell works on bridging the gap between academia and industry. Her research group Sustainable Bioproducts Innovation is a multidisciplinary group of people who seek to support the development and commercialization of new forest-based innovations.
A new visual teamwork tool based on metaphors
A typical problem in teamwork is an imbalance in participation – a few team members are active but not everyone's voice is heard. The Visentools project uses visual tools and haptic feedback to make workshops and team meetings more participatory and meaningful. The project is funded by Business Finland and has been piloted since May.
The self-driving R-Bus, circling random routes, served as a mobile art installation
In August 2023, a smart bus project in Kalasatama challenged the traditional art installation format. An audio piece heard inside also created vibrant natural soundscapes in the midst of the city's infrastructure.
