A meeting point for the research and planning of human-centred living environments

The Grand Opening of the Aalto Living+ Hub in Otaniemi attracted about 120 researchers and representatives of the industry and nearby cities. The program included keynotes, research pitches, networking, and the presentation of the new multimedia equipment.
Aalto Living+ Hub Opening 22 October 2019

The Living+ Hub celebrated its grand opening on October 22nd at the Aalto campus in Espoo. The event was organized in collaboration between Aalto Living+ Platform and Aalto University Campus & Real Estate to support networking in fields related to human-centred living environments and show the potential future use of the renewed Living+ Hub. Invited guests included professors and researchers from different schools of Aalto University, as well as experts from businesses, municipalities and other universities.

The opening was organized in two parts. During the first part, the future activities at the Living+ Hub was presented by Vice President Ossi Naukkarinen, Professor Pirjo Sanaksenaho, the Manager of the Living+ Platform Aija Staffans, and ACRE鈥檚 CEO Antti Tuomela. These were followed by two keynotes on human-centred living environments. The first by Professor Arjan van Timmeren from Delft University of Technology and the second by Professor Marketta Kytt盲 from Aalto University.

In the second part of the event, Living+ Hub's new facilities were opened by Aalto鈥檚 Vice President Antti Ahlava and the guest in honour, Mr. Philippe Duponteil from the Joint Research Centre of European Commission. The afternoon continued with casual discussions. In addition, the visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with the research in Aalto and the new premises of the hub.

The Living+ Hub is a new meeting place at the Aalto University campus in Espoo. The hub is run by the Living+ Platform which organizes lectures, seminars and other networking events. 

The spaces maintained in collaboration with Aalto University Campus & Real Estate, features a big meeting space with a multimedia screen designed and developed to enable co-creative planning of human-centred living environments. The hub also contains lecture halls and meeting rooms of varying size and most importantly co-working spaces, which provide possibilities for researchers to collaborate with the public and private sector. Aalto Living+ Hub is expected to offer a much-needed meeting point between academia, policy makers and companies interested in the field of human-centred living environments.
