A record number of applications to English bachelor’s programmes
The interest in Aalto University’s bachelor’s programmes that are taught in English continues to grow. Their application period ended on 19 January 2022. Altogether, there were 7 362 applications to the programmes, which resulted in 59% growth compared to last year.
Vice President of Education, Petri Suomala, says ‘A warm thank you to all applicants! Our aim is to offer increasingly diverse bachelor’s programmes suitable for the international applicants and we are glad to see that our programmes have gained wide international interest. Now Aalto University is collaborating with other Finnish universities to develop digital pathway studies that prepare international applicants to degree studies in science and technology.’
In the field of business and economics, Bachelor’s Programme in Economics got 1349 applications, and Bachelor’s Programme in International Business that is organised in Mikkeli got 1 151 applications. In the field of art and design, Bachelor’s Programme in Design received 644 applications. In the field of science and technology there are five study options of which Chemical Engineering got 598 applications, Computational Engineering 993, Data Science 1 229, Digital Systems and Design 788, and Quantum Technology 610 applications. 57% of the applications came from international applicants who have pursued their previous degree outside Finland.
The results for the bachelor’s programmes in English will be published on 3 June 2022 at the latest.
The recently ended application period was for Aalto University’s bachelor’s programmes taught in English that will start in the autumn of 2022. The upcoming application period for bachelor’s programmes in Finnish and Swedish runs from 16 to 30 March 2022.
