Aalto rises in Times Higher Education ranking

Aalto University most successful in the area of international outlook.

The ranking of Aalto University went up in the World University Ranking 2016–2017 of Times Higher Education (THE), published yesterday. This year's ranking put Aalto University in the 201-250 bracket compared to last year's 251-200. The THE rankings list nearly 1 000 top universities in the world, and the number one university was University of Oxford from the UK.

13 indicators are used in the Times Higher Education rankings to measure the success of universities in five areas: international outlook, research, citations, teaching and industry income. Aalto University was most successful in the area of international outlook and its three indicators:  international-to-domestic-student ratio, international-to-domestic-staff ratio and international collaboration.  

Aalto University is specialised in technology, business and the arts. Field or subject specific rankings are the most relevant for Aalto University, as these depict the university's areas of operation better than general rankings.
