Construction work has started and the alignment of the street will be changed. The route for pedestrians and cyclists on the south side of Maarintie will be moved to the north side of the street. Construction work will cause route changes to pedestrian and cycling routes and later also to motor vehicle traffic and public transportation.

At Maarintie, the street is moved and the light rail route is aligned according to the current street alignment. Construction work will begin at the beginning of June with surface removal, ground clearance and bottom reinforcement work. Street works will be completed in summer 2020, after which the rails will be placed.

Construction begins at Maarinrannantie in September 2019

In Maarinrannantie, municipal infrastructure is renovated, conduction works are carried out, reinforcement works are done, and new street and rail lines are built. There will be changes to footpaths and cycling routes. The new street area will be completed in June 2020 and the tram line to the north of it in October 2020.
