Radical ideas and prototypes contributing to a resource-wise future. The exhibitions and online lectures are open to everyone, and they belong to the official Helsinki Design Week programme.

Already for decades, we have been overusing our resources. It’s time to design radical systemic changes.

Resource wisdom is about the ability to use different resources – e.g. natural resources, raw materials, energy, products, time and space – with consideration of the next generations and the ecosystems, and by promoting wellbeing and sustainable development.

We are looking for inspiring research projects, prototypes, academic frameworks and study projects on resource wisdom. The project can be a work in progress, a ready solution, a pilot case, an art piece or a model of a process that you want to share with Aalto community, great public and our stakeholders.

The Designs for a Cooler Planet event will be organized for the third time on September 8–30, 2021 at Otaniemi and online. During Helsinki Design Week, Aalto University will showcase radical ideas and models contributing to a resource-wise future. Propose an exhibition, seminar, tour or another event which is related to resource wisdom. The showcased projects will be selected in March.
