Foundation for Aalto University Science and Technology awarded grants for doctoral studies and postdoctoral visits

The Foundation received a record number of 147 applications, of which 24 received a grant, totalling 178 000 eur.

Foundation for Aalto University Science and Technology (formerly the Research Foundation of Helsinki University of Technology) is a foundation established by Finnish industry. Its goal is to support the scientific research and teaching of technical disciplines at Aalto University. The Foundation addresses grants to MSc and PhD theses continuously. Once a year we address grants to doctoral studies and postdoctoral visits from our own funds, including the Funds of Harri Hintikka, Matti Ilmari, Kalevi Numminen, Pentti Talonen and Paavo Uronen, and the Wärtsilä Fund. This year we also awarded a Ritva Sirén Scholarship in telecommunications.

The list of grants is found in this page. Awarding the grants was challenging as the applications were of extremely high quality and the number of applicants was higher than ever. The grants vary from travel grants of a few thousand euros to doctoral student grants of 15000 eur.

The Foundation supports Aalto's Schools of technology (ENG, CHEM, ELEC, SCI) and the Department of Architecture at ARTS. The Foundation accepts donations from companies. More information is found
