HR Excellence in Research award renewed

Aalto University has once again passed the audit related to the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research award.

Aalto University's HR practices continue to meet the EU quality regulations, as the university has once again passed the audit related to the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research recognition. Aalto University received recognition from the commission in 2012 as the first Finnish university.

HR Excellence in Research is a public recognition for universities and research institutes that have adapted their HR policies and practices to the quality principles of the European Commission. The recognition shows that Aalto University is committed to building a safe and stimulating work environment for researchers and to follow a fair and transparent procedures for recruiting and evaluating researchers.

The audit evaluates the university's HR practices in the following categories:

  • Ethical and professional aspects
  • Recruitment and selection 
  • Working environment
  • Training and development 

This time it was the turn to self-assess the university's HR practices.All areas were evaluated as highly functional with commendable mentions. According to the evaluation report, Aalto University has succeeded in creating an attractive, inspiring and rewarding working environment for researchers, and also strives to constantly develop its practices. "Aalto University deserves congratulations and recognition for the work it has done. We can only advise them to to stay on course and persevere in their efforts".

The European Commission will evaluate our personnel practices next time in 2026, when the evaluators will visit Aalto.
