The 14th Specialist Meeting on Microwave Radiometry and Remote Sensing of the Environment (MicroRad 2016) will take place April 11-14, 2016, on Aalto University Campus. It is hosted by the Department of Radio Science and Engineering of Aalto University鈥檚 School of Electrical Engineering.
Previous MicroRad meetings have been held alternately in the United States and Italy. MicroRad is a unique gathering, where the microwave radiometry community has an opportunity to present results from satellite missions, technological advances in instrumentation, and unique innovations in the field of passive microwave remote sensing. The meeting covers radiometry applications on soil moisture and vegetation, ocean salinity and dynamics, cryosphere including terrestrial snow and sea ice, and atmosphere sounding. Invited presentations are given by scientists from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, European Space Agency, and Chinese Academy of Sciences.
MicroRad General Chair Martti Hallikainen and Technical Chair Jaan Praks are pleased with the excellent response to the Call for Papers.
鈥淥f course, we are honoured to organize the first European MicroRad outside Italy and take it as a compliment to the research carried out at Aalto University. And the technical tour to selected laboratories of Aalto University after the conference was much more popular than we thought鈥, adds Professor Jaan Praks.
MicroRad 2016 is sponsored by the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Aalto University, Centro di Telerilevamento a Microonde (CeTeM), and International Union of Radio Science (URSI).
