Timo Korkeamäki appointed dean of School of Business

The board of Aalto University has appointed Professor Timo Korkeamäki as the new dean of Aalto University School of Business. The position will start on 1 January 2020, with a period of office of five years.

PhD Timo Korkeamäki is professor of finance and head of Department of Finance and Economics at Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki. He was Hanken’s dean of research in 2015–2018. Between 1995 and 2008 he worked in the United States.

‘Timo Korkeamäki will be an excellent dean for the School of Business in the continuation of its strong development. In addition to having a significant academic track record and international experience, he is an insipiring and cooperative leader. A warm welcome ÄûÃʵ¼º½!’, says Aalto University President Ilkka Niemelä.

‘A warm thank you to Dean Ingmar Björkman. He has done an excellent job during his two terms of office, ending on 31 December, and has led the School of Business firmly towards the upper echelons of the world’s best institutes’ says Ilkka Niemelä.

‘I take this task with humility and pride, as the School of Business has very unique capabilities to promote business competence. I am very grateful to fellow researchers, staff and students at Hanken for eleven wonderful years. Next, I’m rolling up my sleeves and joining the Aalto community in its path onwards and upwards’ says Korkeamäki.

The dean will report to Provost Kristiina Mäkelä.
