Advanced gallery component
Advanced gallery is a media component meant for creating image galleries to pages. The component can be used in most aalto.fi content types and is available for all editors to use on their pages.
Compared to the media gallery component, Advanced gallery is useful when the need is to showcase a large number of images or to create separate image collections, for example when wanting to share images about different projects. When using the media gallery, all images in the gallery are displayed on the page, while in the Advanced gallery component only the cover image of the gallery is displayed. By clicking on the cover image, users can browse through all the images in the gallery.
The Advanced gallery component has four different layout options depending on the number of gallery collections created. One component can contain one to four gallery collections. Examples of each layout and instructions on how to use the component can be found below.
Instructions for using the Advanced gallery component
When you want to create a new Advanced gallery or edit an existing one, use the following fields and functionalities to create the desired gallery:

Component title: Write a title for the gallery.

Collection title: Write a title for a gallery collection.Gallery collection refers to an individual collection of images. There can be 1-4 gallery collections in one Advanced gallery, as shown in the example galleries above.

Gallery items: Select the media and write an optional caption for a gallery item. Gallery item refers to one image in the gallery.

Create gallery item: Click on ‘Create gallery item’ when you have added the media and caption for one gallery item. Once a gallery item has been created, you can continue adding more.

Add gallery collection: Add a new gallery collection to the same component. Up to four gallery collections can be added in on gallery component.
Adjusting the order of the images within one gallery collection
Once multiple images (i.e., gallery items) have been added, the order of the images can be edited by dragging the gallery items to the desired order. The first image will be displayed as the cover image of the gallery.
